I
read this article on Espn about Bernard Hopkins stating that his pursuit of
history was being ignored because he is "black." As I got to the last
word in this article I was disgusted, not because of the content, but because
Bernard Hopkins pulled the color card in a situation where I believe shouldn't
have been used. I have no problem with people of a different race or color, but
for this boxer to say that he is being ignored by the color of his skin is,
crap! The sport itself has seen a decline in viewers and followers of the sport
because of the increased popularity of the Ultimate Fighting Championship a.k.a.
U.F.C. I was one of those people that stopped watching the sport of boxing
because U.F.C. is more entertaining. I understand what racism is, but for
Bernard Hopkins to say what he said is complete ignorant. I don’t think he took
in consideration; because of the sports decline it wouldn't matter that he has the record for being the oldest boxer with this unified titles. This
is the year 2014 and its time we look past the color of the skin and let the
eyes see the inside of another.
